Description

The Macallan is a single malt whiskey distillery in Easter Elchies, Craigellachie, Banffshire, Scotland.

The Macallan was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to be legally licensed. The making of The Macallan is based on key influences from Spain, North America and Scotland as well as their respective natural raw materials combined with traditional methods and craftsmanship. All of the whiskeys get their color 100 percent from the wood of the barrels in which they are stored. Since wood is a natural product, every tree is different and therefore gives the whiskey different flavors and colors as it matures. The assembled barrels from northern Spain are then flavored with sherry for 18 months and then shipped to Scotland, where they are bottled with the fine brandy from The Macallan.

The oak casks used for The Macallan Colour Collection 18 Years Old are seasoned with sherry wine from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. With flavours of vanilla milk chocolate, orange and honeycomb, the whisky is a natural, auburn colour - the outcome of our new make spirit and exceptional oak casks working harmoniously together over the years. The Colour Collection 18 Years Old presents whisky which has been matured in American oak casks, harmoniously complemented with a subtle inclusion from European oak. Inspired by the vibrant warmth of the evening sun over the pale terroir of Jerez de la Frontera, the packaging’s colours have been carefully chosen to complement the light auburn tone of the whisky within.
