Isle of Jura is a whiskey distillery on the Isle of Jura, Scotland, United Kingdom, located in Craighouse. Originally founded in 1810, the distillery was reborn in 1963, reviving a local community. The Isle of Jura, along with its eponymous whisky distillery, has become one more spirits attraction. Lussa Gin hails from Scotland.
In the north of the island, the perfectly balanced gin is made in copper pot stills by Claire Fletscher, Georgina Kitching and Alicia MacInnes.
All botanicals for this special gin are gathered on the Isle of Jura or grown locally. Only the juniper is currently sourced elsewhere, but will be produced in the future. Lussa Gin is a gin with herbal notes and includes botanicals such as coriander, elderflower, rose petals, honeysuckle, lemon, thyme, lime blossom, orris root and juniper.
Fine lemon and orange blossom notes rise to the nose. A light herbal spice and interesting oatmeal cookie notes also join in. The palate is very smooth and one picks up slight nuances of peppermint, citrus and juniper. The finish is a bit fresher and has a floral finish with spicy chili pepper notes.
